first of all: you should read this. it's an article from the Seattle Times about the culture on Capitol Hill, mainly the Pike/Pine region where Drew and Jason most likely hung out all the time.

I'm back to give you some visuals/reviews of the various bars in Seattle that all the characters in this play stayed up til 4am drinking whiskey and beer at.
1. THE FUNHOUSE
a venue for unsigned punk and rock bands to play in Seattle to crowds of drunken young people.
It is next to the famous Space Needle and is in the scariest building i've ever seen. It's been around for a really long time. It smells like pee outside.
2. LINDAS
a Capitol Hill staple, cheap and dark with pool tables and antlers on the wall. The hipster staff is notoriously rude but it's kind of fun because they're so attractive. there is a large back patio with heatlamps year round, where you can smoke cigarettes even though it's supposed to be illegal. (there is a law in Seattle that you can't smoke 20 feet from a building, which is why the sidewalks are littered with cigarette butts and smokers huddled together in the rain)

3. THE COMET
Okay. My experience with the comet is thus; both of my ex boyfriends who were in semi-shitty bands had their semi-shitty "record release" shows at The Comet. So that might give you an idea of the kind of place this is..there are ALWAYS bands playing on the tiny cut out stage, every night of the week, and the music (sometimes unintelligable buttrock, sometimes beautiful soulful harmonies) pours out of the doors until 1 or 2am. But the quality of the drinks and atmosphere are nothing really special, it's just a very popular venue for young musicians to get their start performing in Seattle bars.
4. FLOWERS
A bar on the Ave in the University District (right next to Allie's salon) where you can eat vegan buffet food from noon to six, and then drink into the night. Mismatched decor with mirrors on the ceilings, it has a very funky, inviting vibe and seems to be most popular on Sundays.
